The most prominent Spring/Summer trends of the year include gingham and embroidery. In most cases, these features are the focal points of the outfit and everything else is kept simple so as to not draw attention away from the focal point. I’m a HUGE fan of both of these trends. In this look, I wanted to explore mixing the two.
I paired these medium/light wash floral embroidered shorts with this long sleeve tie-front gingham top. I love both of these pieces and the way they work together to create a feminine, flirty look. The embroidery of the shorts is done in a color scheme that complements both the wash of the denim and the stark black and white of the gingham print.
Tie shirts pair perfectly with high waisted shorts because the tie detail defines the waistline and the bottom of the shirt falls perfectly at the top of the shorts. Since the shorts are already pretty form-fitting, I chose a looser top with a slight bell silhouette to balance out the look.
I loved playing with mixing these two trends. Thanks so much for reading and I look forward to having you back!
