After taking trips to Telluride and Big Bear this Winter, I felt inspired to explore the realm of Winter fashion further. Living in San Diego, my wardrobe varies from Summer to Fall looks… and then pretty much right back to Summer come May or June. “Winter coats” aren’t really a thing here unless the temperatures dip below fifty (or sixty for us sensitive folks). But as soon as we venture a couple hours east, a coat becomes a necessity.
So what do I look for in a coat?
The characteristics that make or break a coat in my eyes are color, fit, fabric, and details/accents. I like to either go for black, navy, and neutrals, or a pop of color like red (if I want the rest of the outfit to remain simple). Since it’s not too cold here, I like to opt for coats with a flattering, structured fit instead of a bulky, puffy fit. As for details and accents, this obviously varies from coat to coat. But a little faux fur or detailed hardware never hurt nobody. To put it simply, I want a coat to look sophisticated, but feel like pajamas.
So, without further adieu, here are 10 of my favorite coats under $150:
One of my favorite parts of cold weather is bundling up in a cozy coat. I hope you found a few affordable ones that you like in this post! Thanks so much for reading and I look forward to having you back!
